6 mo post placement

Today is our 6mo post placement for Teddy's adoption. It hasn't been quite 6mo yet but close. What a 6mo its been. Sometimes it seems like it has just flown by other times its like time has been dragging. For me Teddy still seems like a visitor who just doesn't leave. The bonding for me has come VERY slowly this time, not like the girls. I find myself second guessing my parenting skills with him all the time. I have to say adopting a 5 yr old who comes with 5 yrs of habits and personality is a challenge. Teddy is also an extrovert living in a family of introverts (or at least quiet people) and he is not quiet. He talks constantly. Even when we put him to bed he will lay in his bed and talk, count or say his ABC's. It's hard for me to take him out because he will talk to anyone who even makes eye contact with him. He is starting to learn boundaries but needs lots of reminders about who we can talk to and who strangers are. Oh and is he a drama king! Just be present for a shot and you will see what I mean :0) A few things about Ted: He loves to eat, he loves to be out side, he likes to do things that take the minimum amount of effort:0), he is good at keeping his room clean (if you remind him), he has picked up English very quickly, he loves to help Ken and Max outdoors with cleaning, he is a great raker, he loves to talk. He is a very happy child who we love more and more every day.

Our Island

After working on it for about a month Ken finally got our Kitchen isl done. The first picture is before (our temporary isl that we had for 3 1/2 years :o) Its so nice to have more seating for our growing family. As usual Ken did a great job now if he just had more time to finish the rest of the house.

Before you know it

weeks go by and you haven't posted. I do think about posting a lot but I never seem to get it done. Many of the times I think about it I'm in the car and by the time I get home the kids have exhausted me. Nothing much going on here just regular everyday life. We are missing Sannie but speak with her on skype just about every other day. High School Hockey regular season is winding down and playoffs start in about two weeks for Max. Lilly gets to change her earrings tomorrow. Ollie and Teddy continue to be great friends and keep each other entertained. Teddy's adjustment to being part of our family has been a slow progress but it does seem to be moving forward. Teddy is very much an extrovert and talks continually by the time he goes to bed I am more then ready for quiet. Hope you all had a great Valentines day. If you cant tell by the pictures the Girls Loved their V day gift (high healed boots!)

Been a long time (Birthdays, pierced ears, and Spain)

Wow it's been a long time since we have posted. Hope everyone had a wonderful start to the new year. Ollie turned 5 right after Christmas and Lil turned 9 in Jan. 9 means you get to get your ears pierced in our house. So she was so excited and a little nervous but brave. Her ears are doing so well no problems at all and she can't wait to change her earrings. Ollie and Ted both had doctors appointments. Ollie for her 5 yr old check up and Ted for a follow up. They both got shots. Teddy was so excited to go to the Doc (new people to talk to) Ollie stressed the whole way there and into the room. Then came time for shots Teddy whimpered and whined Ollie asked if it was going to hurt. Teddy cried the whole time (real drama no tears) Ollie said "ouch". With all her stressers pain is not one of them. She rocked! Teddy still has 3 more shots to go to be caught up before Kindergarten. Now for Spain San leaves tomorrow for Spain. Yeah for her not for me. I am not looking forward to my oldest being in another country til May. I know it will be a great experience for her and help her Spanish to become more fluent BUT what about me :o( We will keep you all updated on her travels.

Skating with Santa

On Sunday we all went to skate with Santa (except San) at our local rink. It was nice to all be able to skate at the same time. Teddy is getting better, he still relies on the crates but can really make them move. Ollie is a one-footed pusher but cruises right along. Lil had some "private" lessons from a lady who used to teach for SCAD but has since moved out west. Max and Ollie wouldn't sit on Santa's lap and Santa told Lilly Max has been on the naughty list in the past. Lilly enjoyed skating with one of her friends, and Ollie still likes to throw the snow!
